Doubt you're going to see a bottom mount design, if one is released.

There are already some top-stack 3D-printed prototype cases on the market, which are basically just a box that can hide whatever you want to stack inside with short cable connections. I think this market for gimmicky add-ons will be saturated in a few months.

The Studio and the Mini have the same exterior width/depth dimensions 7.7” x 7.7” so in theory anything designed to sit below/above a Mini should also look good with a Studio.

But this Satechi dock has a depression on top that the Mini’s circular base would nest into, I don’t know if the Studio has the same size circular base, I think they might be a bit different. A Mini-sized hub/dock with a flat top would be the most certain to be compatible with the Studio.

Do you have the Satechi USB-C dock already? I’d be curious to hear how it fits together with the Studio.

OWC has a MiniStack line of accessories you might like. The MiniStack STX has an NVMe slot, 3.5” HDD bay, and a Thunderbolt 4 hub in back, except it’s black for some reason. The regular MiniStack is a 3.5” HDD bay only with a USB 3.0 connection. Both have flat tops so should fit well under the Studio. For NVMe a Thunderbolt connection would be preferable to a USB-C connection for speed.

I’d wager we’ll see an updated MiniStack STX within the year that’s a better aesthetic match for the Studio.

YouTuber Sara Dietschy showed the Satechi USB hub under her Mac Studio, looks like it fits fine. Don’t expect very high SSD speeds over USB-C, but the convenience factor is appealing.

Nice, thanks for linking that, I’ve been looking at those under-MacMini hubs. Not really for the extra ports or ssd storage, but to raise the Studio up so isnt not sucking in dust from my desk. The extra ports and a ssd too are a bonus. But until now, I wasn’t sure if it would really fit under the studio.

I was looking into the specs of the Satech iMac Mini Hub and it only supports a slower SSD.
It's probably due to the 5 Gbps USB-c speed. However, I can see the convenience in an SSD that's always attached in the "same" unit. It does look good together 😀

"SSD drive not included. Internal SSD enclosure only fits M.2 SATA SSD drives, does not work with NVMe."

It is becoming a bit difficult to find brand new SATA M.2 SSDs from regular retail channels, especially in capacities larger than 500GB. This would be a great solution for a TimeMachine style backup if the capacity could meet needs. Heat dissipation is rarely an issue with SATA M.2, so the undermount where it is located does not really pose a problem. Personally would probably not buy this unless I had ample SATA M.2 SSDs on hand. I'd prefer to just throw a 2.5" SATA SSD in a USB enclosure and use that... but people hate to see cables.
