When the iPad Pro came out, I thought, "That's a giant Candy Crush interface." Now, I want that, badly. It also happens to be that time of the year. What sales are we thinking we may have? I'm looking to grab one ASAP. Trying to see if there is a point in waiting until December.

Also, a little unsure about which size. I was thinking about 128 GB, because my phone is 128 GB. I've got about 60 GB left, and that's with a lot of stuff I'm not even using. For the iPad Pro, I would use it for music, art, school (apps like Notability), games, magazines and maybe a little music production. Does that sound like 128 GB can do all of this without running low? Do I need to go 256 GB? It's not going to be my only computer.

Don't know your location, but if you were thinking of buying soon (or for comparison purposes) rather than waiting for the likely holiday sales, keep refurbs in mind.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I appreciate it.

I'd rather buy new. I was just trying to see if the idea was that prices were not going to drop much. Not really sure that things like iPads really get marked down much, because we're talking about the current model. There was just a post on the first page about Best Buy having $100 off. So, if what they're discounting is probably not going to be more than $100, I'll buy in a couple days.

I think 128GB is plenty.

Yeah, you know, I think I'll do the 128 GB. I don't think I'll get down to 40 GB.

I'd wait for the iPad Pro 2 at this point, it's been an year

Yeah, there's always something on the horizon if you keep waiting, but I was never the type to wait. I wanted to buy it since right before that recent Apple event, and no new iPad at that event, so I still want this model.

I saw a digital magazine on one of these the other day, and I had never seen such vivid pictures. Gotta buy it.

If you gotta buy it then why even make the thread?

Logical thing is to wait, especially considering how dated the pro is in missing features compared to the iPhone 7

Did you read the thread?

Don't want some mystery iPad with some mystery date.

The iPad Pro 2 will probably be out next year, march seems like the likely time, but there will always be a new model coming. There was a price drop on the 12.9" a few months back (right after I bought mine ).

For me 128GB is plenty. I have 50GB free, and that's with 20GB each of music and movies, 15GB of photos, and about 5GB of apps I could easily delete. I probably could have squeezed into 32GB if I tried, but I wanted the option of using cellular. 256GB would have been overkill for me.

I just wanted to put my two cents in there I have 128 GB phone and I started out with a 32 GB iPad Pro 12.9 but I couldn't even put my apps and a couple of movies on it before it was full not including my photos etc. since I've got my 128gb cellulare I have gone on at least a trip or two and to be able to put unlimited amount of movies and TV shows on it without having to micromanage apps photos etc. 128 GB is the new perfect size if you do a lot of photo stuff and video 256 may be a better bet but I would say 128 is right for you

Based on history, I think that the days of the "$175 off and even greater savings with price-matching and stackable coupons" for the iPad Pro are over... or at least gone for the foreseeable future.

It is likely that there will be more "$100 off" sales in the coming weeks. Every year some always believe that there will be some killer deal on Black Friday. That has actually never happened, but they are still hopeful.

My advice: Don't pay retail. Jump on any sale that is $100 or more off.

There's talk of an iPad Pro 2 in March-ish 2017. Possible but doubtful. If there's going to be an update to it, probably Oct 2017. If there is an update in March, it will most likely not be anything that would cause one to regret buying the current one now.

Regarding size: 128GB is the right choice. 32 is way too small for the things that can be done with the iPP. 256 is nice, but one would really need to know that they would use it to justify the added cost.

I'm going to literally have no photos on it. The movies came from iTunes? How much space do they take on average? Just trying to get an idea.

Yeah, 128 GB sounds perfect. Thanks for saying that.

Sounds like what I was wondering about. Yeah, $100 would be good. I'd just feel silly if I bought the thing and then $100 off started. That's the price of an Apple Pencil :D

And you're right that 128 GB is perfect. 256 is overkill.

Only adding this in case you're unaware of the Apple refurb process. I've bought a few refurbs and have been satisfied; to me they were like new.

Echoes my sentiments perfectly.

But I will be getting a 256gb model...and I will wait for v2. Even if that means Oct. :)
