Earlier this year, my daily driver was my 2011 iMac.

Big weather rolled in and there was a 2-3 seconds power outage and my computer wouldn't turn back on after.

My question is what to do about the HD and my data?

are there options to wipe the drive or can i take it to mom and pop shop and let them keep everything but give me the HD?

Do you have a backup?

You could take the drive out.
Buy a USB3/SATA docking station.
There are many available and they're pretty cheap.

I have a backup, my issue is i don't want a HD with my personal info out in the world.

i don't have the technical ability to remove the drive myself. I just want to recycle it but keep the HD.

Probably your power board

Try this: plug the system and go away for a half hour, come back and try to power it up
(I had one system that was like that, but after it powered up it was perfectly fine)
