I am really getting tired of the frozen screen/hard resetting of my iPP 10.5” . I really don’t need an iPP, my main use is browsing, so I think the mid tier iPad would work fine for me. Don’t remember what its called, but it’s around $499. Just wondering if all newer iPads have this screen freezing issue now or if I could take a chance on this mid tier one to be ok? A very small incentive too would be the free 1 year ATV+ subscription.

Do you really have to hard reset in order to continue to use the device? For most of us with touch sensitivity issues the iPad continues to function just fine (videos continue to play etc.) and touch response returns after a while without the need to restart.

This is the case for me (no restart required) with the Mini 5, so I am guessing the Air 3 would be similar, as the internals are. They don’t make things like they used to.

Well, darn, I was hoping a newer iPad wouldn’t have this freezing issue. Stuck with the 10.5” for a while longer I guess.

And yes, I do have to hard restart to get it to do anything once it becomes non responsive.

When my Air 3 gets too warm now, I stop using until it cools down.

I have also always had to do a hard restart to get any iPad prior to this working after touch irresponsiveness.
Not happy, but I am using cross platform programs now so when I am ready to try a Surface Pro I will have more apps I can fall back on.

There’s no excuse for Apple to keep ignoring this problem across their entire iPad line.

Yeah it sounds like a different issue than the random unresponsiveness that clears up on its own that some of us experience. It’s an issue nonetheless and worse than the one that I had. At least with mine it was a momentary inconvenience which is why I lived with it for months. If I had to forcibly reboot my iPad Pro every time it froze I’d go crazy. This kind of stuff makes getting AppleCare+ a necessity for me just to insure long term return on initial investment. Sad.

@IPadNParadise I've tried every iPad model since the 2017 12.9" (except for the 2018 iPad Pros, as the store models exhibited irresponsiveness. To say nothing of other build quality issues and their excessive price tag).

I relented with another 2019 Air 3 as I really need to do my digital art for pleasure and my health. Now though, I stop using the Air 3 when it begins to get warm and let it cool down, as excessive heat was always a precursor to the ongoing irresponsive issues. At least I was able to buy it on discount, so I am not that angsty about it.

No one should be dealing with this problem with any iPad (or any build quality ridiculousness).
