Thank you for your input, I wish it was an easier decision haha. The most I'd do is use Lightroom to edit instagram photos lol so I am assuming the m2 pro 16gb should be more than enough. I currently only use my laptop to browse the web, watch YouTube videos, and do schoolworkYou are going to get a lot of divergent opinions, good luck sorting them out. It's a touch choice, some would say the M2 was not that much of an upgrade over the M1, but it has more efficiency cores and gpu cores. Plus, the M2 machine is newer (obviously). For general use, 16 gb ram should be okay. I guess thats the way I would lean, the M2. But it's hard not to be tempted by 32 gb ram. Sorry. Like I said tough call.
The new M4 base MBP isn't going to be anywhere near the OP's used mac options at $1000, especially since Apple is finally making 16GB standard(confirmed with the new iMac)Unless your Lightroom work involves a lot of panorama stitching, and other multi-image operations you're not going to see much difference w/ 16 vs. 32, and the M2 being faster will be felt in everything else. I'd go M2 Pro (or wait for the base M4 MBP this week, which may be cheaper and faster (CPU, not sure about GPU)).
Ah, didn't see the quoted price. Assumed regular-ish pricing for a "Pro" vs. Base. Yeah, a new base MBP will be more than $1K.The new M4 base MBP isn't going to be anywhere near the OP's used mac options at $1000, especially since Apple is finally making 16GB standard(confirmed with the new iMac)
