Wow, I just ordered the Samsung 2.5" 500 gb hard drive from NewEgg for $120 as an end-of-the-month special. If you want one too, then you better order in the next few hours. This will go into my Mac Mini.

Not my experience. I only buy Seagate or Samsung drives. The only three WD desktop drives I've owned have failed (120 gb, 250 gb) or is failing (1 TB "green" drive). On top of this is that WD has the sh!++iest customer service of any company I've ever dealt with, even failing to honor their 12 month warranty on a drive that exhibited documented problems at 11 months. They had me reinitialize the drive, and it worked for two more months, then failed. They said that since the drive failed at 13 months, it was 1 month past the warranty date. Talk about a sh!+ company. They'll never get another penny from me.
On the other hand, none of my Seagate or Samsung drives have failed, and the one IBM (now Hitachi) drive I own worked superbly for 4 years before I retired it. I occasionally use it as a test drive for my Apple TV hacking.
I've had two for the HM500LIs and I absolutely love them. They are faster than all the 7200rpm drives according to Tom's Hardware. They run cool in my experience and you cannot hear them at all in a dead silent room.
