I will install the Snow Leopard OS system as I have the original disks

A mac repair installed Samsung 512GB 850 PRO SSD
They didn’t do a good job, when got home the fan noise was loud, so I install SSD Fan Control

Done some research online and many people are having this issue with these models
They say software is temporary solution so do I need to upgrade the thermal sensor

OWC in-line digital thermal sensor

Please advise anyone thanks

Seems like the repair shop didn't hook up the heat sensor, and so the fans are going full blast.
it is hooked up with old sensor but doesn't function well with new SSD so do I need to purchase
OWC In-line Digital Thermal Sensor for iMac 2009-2010?

HDDfancontrol does exactly the same thing SSDFANctrl (and tens of other programs) do.
You want to have a hardware solution - buy a cable. You want to manage fans with software - use any software you want.

Most moden drives have internal thermal sensors built-in. A physical sensor seems mostly unnecessary, particularly for a solid state drive. They don't get generate very much heat. Your unit is probably on it's last 2 or three years, anyway. I am sure the drive + software will be fine.

Yeah, buy the thermal sensor and install it. Software is just a band-aid problem and in my experience never fully fixed the problem. I recently installed the same SSD on my 2011 27" and they sent me the 2010 thermal sensor model instead of the 2011. This caused the fans to spin at 100%. I tried the software route but it didn't affect anything. I shipped back the 2010 and they sent me the correct 2011 thermal sensor and no more crazy fan spin.

I getting my iMac fixed again to another mac repair shop this is their reply

Hello
Thank you for your inquiry, yes we can help you with this issue basically they haven’t installed the heat sensor for the new HD, so it need the sensor which cost around £40 plus our labour of £50, and if they haven’t mounted the HD properly then the mounting kit will cost £39, the whole process from ordering the parts and finish the job will take 3-4 working days

Glad that you opted for a different repair shop and it was a simple repair.

Order the cable, watch the video of OWC a couple of times and do it yourself. It's not difficult and you save yourself a few bucks and won't miss you iMac for 4 days.
Ps, always make a good backup before starting or sending of you Mac!
