Samsung 830 in Mac Mini 2010

I updated my 2010 mac mini with a 128gb Samsung 830 yesterday.

It was a little more difficult than I thought it would be, especially, somehow getting the airport wireless grille back in place over the hard drive. I have no idea why that was so hard!

I put the Trim patch thing on the Samsung, says it's working. Speed disk says it's reading at 257mbs and writing 210mbs

Very peppy. Along with the 16gbs of ram, very pleased!

yeah those speeds are correct as the 2010 mini runs in sata II

I tried to tell people this when I put the 470 in my Mini and everyone said "Oh it's so easy, blah blah blah." It wasn't. I got it attached to the SATA port yes though I didn't get it back the way I originally had it.

I think you have to actually slightly bow the airport grille to get it in place. Either that, or I didn't put the hard drive in correctly. I could only get one of the hard drive to grille screws in properly, so I don't know what the problem was. Except it works!

I tried to snap it into place by aligning the screws but it wouldn't fit perfectly into place. I wasn't about to follow OWC's video idea of pushing out the logic board because I felt I'd damage it.

Just did the same upgrade. My 2006 Mac Pro is near dead but I do not want to buy the current "new" Mac Pro which is outdated. I threw in a Samsung 830 256 SSD into my 2010 Mac Mini and added some Muskin RAM from RamExperts.com (sku 997019) which did put it up to 16 GB. One of the RAM sticks died after 5 days and I am waiting for the replacement.

Not really a replacement for my Mac Pro but will have to do until Apple gets their act together.
