I just found this.

I think it's pretty embarrassing for them.

Thoughts?

I'd advise people not to go to that link. The page is a bombardment of advertising pop ups and if you click for more on the article on that and you will get fake Facebook pop ups - opening links phishing for your details.

OP, you could have cut and paste the article (or the small paragraph that is there) and posted the image, without redirecting us to a site that could potentially fill some users computers with adware / malware / phishing scam if they aren't on a mac.

The fact that the article is on a site so laden with that much crap - shows how much merit there is to the article.

Samsung shamelessly photoshops Galaxy S4 into iPhone model’s hand
Thursday, May 16, 2013 · 3:31 pm · 66 Comments

“A professional model for stock image site Shutterstock.com,” John Brownlee reports for Cult of Mac, “once did an entire set of images called ‘Pretty Woman Lying On The Sofa Holding Her Smartphone.’ And that smartphone in question is clearly an iPhone 3G/S.”

“Okay,” Brownlee reports. “[Check out this] recent Samsung ad, and what do you know?”

Brownlee reports, “The model’s iPhone has been artlessly photoshopped into a Samsung Galaxy S4, even though that device features a 5-inch display that is so large, the phone’s tiny size in the model’s hand implies a woman who is over eight-feet tall.”

And in answer to the article. Its a stock image. They can do what they like with it once they have bought the licence to use it. They are doing nothing wrong, its what stock images are for and it happens the world over in every design / marketing / publishing house..... Samsung marketing / design team have done nothing wrong or disingenuous, there is NO embarrassment. End of.....

Sorry, didn't noticed the ads and stuff since I first checked the link on my iPhone and it was showing a mobile version without too much ads.

I'll edit that right away!

Embarrassing or stupid, it's working. 10 million Galaxy S4 devices sold in under a month is amazing (for an Android device), especially if you compare it to the Galaxy S3's sales of 10 million in 50 days.

And pretty poorly photoshopped at that. It stands to reason that if the entire hand is out of focus, the phone in the hand would be out of focus as well.

Here's another more reliable website that talks about it: http://www.cultofmac.com/227604/sam...shops-a-galaxy-s4-into-an-iphone-models-hand/

Honestly, even if it's a stock image, I think it's pretty sad to see that they HAD do chose the same that Apple used. Like if it's the only stock image available on earth...

But what difference does it make. The design team chose the photo because it matches the brief of the campaign audience. They then manipulated the stock image for their campaign. I'm sure the image wasn't picked because she was holding an iPhone, in fact its an old stock photo and you can't really tell its an iPhone anyway because its out of focus. I just don't get it. No one is going to care other than some fanatical apple loyalists who do not understand that the manipulation of stock images by design teams for jobs / manufacturers products happens every day and in almost every type of publication.

I'd be more critical about the photoshopping skills of the design team with the focus issue and overuse of diffuse glow / bloom than the choice of photo.

Seriously. This is how it works. Samsung approach design agency, we want an advert that does this. Agency source the material that fits the brief and manipulates it to do so. Samsung likely have no idea that the girl in the stock photo was actually holding an iPhone anyway.

Its all a big hullabaloo over nothing. Its just how the design industry work. Like it or lump it, but if you think you are being fooled by that, I'd suggest you just stop looking at adverts and marketing material permanently because in the world of advertising marketing almost every image of everything is faked (enhanced) to some degree....

It was on my iPad I got the popups. Did you click on the link that said read more? That's when I got the phishing popups.
