I have been looking for a P&S camera and have been waiting/putting off any purchases. But, I saw at Target a Samsung Digimax A7 (see image) for under $190.

Basic info:
3072 x 2304 image size max.
3x optical zoom (38-114mm)
2.0" lcd viewer
SD, *MMC
movie mode:*avi 640x480 / 320x240 / 160x120 (30fps, 15fps)
2 AA batteries
4.3x2.2x1.3 *5.8oz

Any thoughts. Is this a decent P&S camera? Can't find a review of it at dpreview.com or anywhere else.

I am thinking that it is similar to the Digimax V700.

ALL recent samsung cameras have been rated badly. I suspect that this would follow too. For the best bang for the buck get panasonic cameras. They are very cheep consistently rated the best and they unarguably have the best Optical Stabilization.

they start from 150 with 6x optical and OIS. for 200 bucks you get very good cameras. check for deals @ http://www.deals2buy.com http://www.edealinfo.com etc

Thanks for the reply. I guess I will go back to being wishy-washy about purchasing a P&S camera. Won't be ruling out Panasonic cameras when I really get desperate for one.
