Evo 850 msata+ Syba 4 Port mSATA PCI-e 2.0 x4 RAID + 2019 Mac Pro. Drives get spat out after a few minutes. Going to update the firmware with samsung magician on a seperate windows machine that i just bought coming in the mail. Pcie card seems fine, drivers show up in system profiler.

Anyone experience this???

In my own experience on cMP. The Samsung 840 Evo's firmware can only be updated when connect to one of the native SATA port directly.

When I mount the drive on a Sonnet Tempo SSD PCIe card. Everything works perfectly except can't update the firmware (not only via Magician, but also in the DOS tool).

I don't know if the same thing apply on a normal PC. But this may be the problem.

This " masata to SATA adapter US$8.75 on Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Micro-SATA-Cables-MSATA-ADPT-Adapter/dp/B004YKJ5TE
would allow you to connect the msata SSD directly to a cMP internal SATA port .. . then you coudl update the firmware
