As per the thread title. Got a brilliant deal on this monitor and it seemed liked a great option as I have two MacBooks (work + home) so the side by side display ability if required is great. There's a 20+ page thread on the issues with two MacBooks and Apple Studio Display so that along with its size put me off, realistically I'd need two Apple Studio Displays to match the same experience and that's not affordable.
What settings are you using if you have the G9 OLED? Mainly - what resolution are you keeping it in when in full screen mode? I find myself wanting to scale it as 5120x1440 is a bit small but then going to 3840x1080 whilst looking better perhaps it is taking away the benefit of having such a monitor? I guess 2x would be 2560x720 but then that eats up lots and lots of space - it does make the text look great though.
From looking around it seems almost like non Apple Studio Display screens just won't get better than this and there's no point changing for something else. This one is in the 110 PPI range so that is some benefit apparently due to scaling vs being in a 140 PPI range like a few others I've seen - is anyone possibly able to explain this more directly?
I've been looking at the LG 40WP95CP-W which I can get for a decent deal but not as great as I got this G9 for. (The huge appeal of that one is being able to use one mouse/keyboard for the two screens at the same time with no switching, but for the life of me I can't see if this works with wireless mouse/keyboard).
A lot seem to be loving the Dell U4025qw but it is very pricey and I wonder when you get to that point if the Apple Studio Display might have been a better choice. I've also seen the Dell 43" as a wild alternative giant choice but for obvious reasons it's not as popular.
Any other monitors I should be looking at? At the "normal" 5120x1440 resolution looking at this monitor vs a basic IPS 1900x1080p doesn't seem like there's much difference. I know some of this is influenced by differences in how an OLED pixel works vs a pixel on an IPS screen, but I don't know how to find out HOW much benefit any other screens might give or if it's much of a muchness at under 200 PPI effectively.
