This thread has been very bad for my sense of satisfaction haha. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy my Z Flip 4, but my biggest hesitation with it was the cameras. Seeing the green S23 Ultra and reading everyone's thoughts here has given me tech envy, for sure.

The thing I don't like the most, Android phones seem to devalue less than iPhones. The only reason I can get £620 for my S22 Ultra is because Samsung are offering that as a trade in deal.
It's a gift and curse.

During these S23U preorders, we were criticizing Samsung about how the trade in deals are so low... claiming they are making a mistake for not giving their users good trade in value.

But on the flip side, if they took a page out of Apple's book (not offering good trade in value)... perhaps Samsung would get better re-sale value. So, we as Samsung users have to decide do we want them to be more like Apple or want good trade in deals?

Guys, unbelievable!!!!!!!!
1. 600 nits of LG P-OLED is much much brighter than S23 Ultra 1750 nits, outdoors are equal.
2. LG V60 UFS 2.1 storage has the same speed as S23 Ultra UFS 4.0 storage. Tested with genuine USBC cable, my laptop has USBC 3.2 - 10 Gbps speed, win 11 PRO, all drivers installed.
3. Selfie, Ultra-Wide and main cameras are better on V60 in photos and in videos, stabilization a little better on S23 U
4. HDR10+ on LG FHD display and on cameras is much better and pleasing to the eyes compared to QHD S23. BTW V60 is the first phone that can do 4k 60 fps HDR10+ on all lenses, selfie included.
5. Battery better in v60, but thats 60Hz only.
6. One UI 5.1 also inferior compared to LG UI.
7. Sound and also in speakers is much much better on LG
Im very sad atm, but going to keep them both. If you live in the US, get yourself an v60. youll be amazed. 3 years old device ... 😔
Ah, don’t be sad. If you’re keeping them both, you’re very fortunate to be able to do so. I have an HTC 10 that’s considerably older than your LG that I still think very highly of.

Honestly many of my older phones were able to do one thing that I haven’t yet seen the equal of. My Pixel 2 and HTC 10 gave me such clear call quality I felt like I was in the same room as my caller rather than miles away. There was such richness and clear tones. I don’t know why my newer more expensive phones haven’t been able to replicate that quality.

My S7 Edge took videos with audio that I can listen to today and feel instantly transported to that moment in the video. The mics on that phone must have been paranormally good to have been able to do that. I don’t know why, but no phone since that S7 Edge has been able to reproduce that level of sound quality for video.

Sometimes you’re lucky and you manage to capture lightning in a bottle. For a fleeting moment in time you hold something superlative in your hand. That’s to be celebrated. Your LG is clearly that for you.

I have been curious and did look up old reviews and comments on this phone and not everyone was as happy and impressed with it.

And that’s the way it goes. The same model can roll off the assembly a thousand times a day and some will be enduring superstars and others will be that lemon people can’t get rid of fast enough.

We need to keep on going, evaluate what’s in front of us. There are just too many reasons I can’t go with an LG phone now no matter how awesome and inexpensive it is. There’s a reason I didn’t do so 3 years ago.

I hope in time you will become better acquainted with unique features like the S Pen and come to appreciate your S23 Ultra. If not, there’s always something around the corner. That is why I love this site, we are always checking those new things out!

That’s a good point, I didn’t think of it like that. The fact that I can trade in my S22 Ultra and get £620 for it, plus a 10% discount referral code and a further 10% for adding accessories, is something Apple has never and will never (probably) do.

There was a time several weeks ago I was determined to get the S23 Ultra now and the Z Flip 5 for my birthday in the late summer. 🤣

When I came back down to earth, I realized that level of indulgence probably wasn’t feasible this year. However, I am interested in seeing what kind of camera system the Z Flip 5 will get.

I think now I am a year away from seriously considering a foldable phone. As someone who splits my time between the countryside and the beach, I need a foldable to be more dust and grit resistant. Samsung may achieve that with the Z Flip 5.

I can’t wait to find out. Meanwhile I am super excited and I keep checking FedEx and my order status to see when my lavender S23 Ultra gets here. I’m not expecting miracle levels of quality. I just want a couple of little improvements over my S22 Ultra and I will be really happy.

Looking forward to your impressions of your new S23 Ultra. I hope it works for your eyes (doesn't give you trouble)!

I'm hoping a camera upgrade is in the works for the Z Flip 5, because I'm really loving the small form factor when folded.

yeah I love the folded form factor especially if I'm out at a restaurant or something, it really helps me to not grab at the phone all the time to see what's happening. I also get a huge amount of satisfaction hanging up on someone by flipping the phone shut :D

The first thing I did during setup was make that possible LOL. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Congratulations! It’s gorgeous! It does remind me of my Starlight iPhone which I love.

Wow I’m kind of regretting not getting the white one. ☹️

Lol but there’s some sort of fabric in your photo that looks like the color I did choose, so I’ll take that as a sign from the universe to stay the course on my order! 😆

Haha. I was fine with my Fold 4 and mini 13 for personal devices but the hype, the blue color and camera made me preorder the S23U. Still tempted to cancel. My eventual goal will be to keep the Fold 4 until the Fold 7 comes and trade in the Fold 4 and S23U for it. Hopefully by then the Fold 7 will have the S Ultra's camera system.

No love up in Canuck land yet, still awaiting dispatch

I feel for you. It's often us UKers stuck waiting whilst the rest of the universe gets their devices.

If it helps, I think the device is WELL worth waiting for. First time ever today I was out without any apple tech.

S23ultra, galaxy watch 5 pro and very happy I am too :) (only notifications to really sort out)

The watch 5 pro by the way, after setting it up, wearing it all yesterday all today has 70% battery life left. It did everything the apple watch did, notifications, prompted me to stand, measured my heart rate, asked me if I was on a walk etc. and setup was apple simple (bring it to the phone and follow the prompts)

LOVED using the 10x zoom today after 3x max on iphone. I even had a brief play with astrophotography and the pro photo modes? fantastic for a photo-head like me who likes to play.

If I can just get comfortable with notifications on android, I'll be happy! (until you know, the next shiny toy is available ;-)

With Astrophotography, do you definitely have to have it on a tripod for it to work?

so don't take my word for anything on this as I'm a total n00b to it, but with exposures between 4-10 mins, I can't imagine hand holding it even if the AI was clever enough to ignore the shaking... though I suspect anything sturdy would do. For example, I did try propping it up on a table in the back garden with no fancy kit and it worked fine. (so anything to keep it steady)

Definitely need to play much more with it but I was amazed when a sky map popped up to show me what I could aim for.

I'm sure people into this type of photography have had stuff like this for ages but on a "general" cell phone? to be able to do this blows my mind tbh.

The pixel phones, going back to the 4XL I believe, have had a really good astrophotography mode. Excited to finally get to try it out on samsung hardware.
