I was at best buy today for a good hour switching back between the new iPhone 8+ and the Samsung Galaxy s8+. I have an iPhone 6+ now and was anticipating upgrading this fall. Clearly the X price pissed me off, so I am considering a Samsung because I am slowly migrating towards google services and I love the amount of customization you can do with it.

Why did I bother checking the iPhone 8+? Well its new and I figured I may consider it. Well, I am not because I can't get over the almost same design language as my current 6+. It is now down to the X (not happy about it but I do keep my phones for 2-3years) or the s8+. I did not like the form factor of the note 8 so thats out.

My concern comes down to the cameras on both. I looked up the stats and both sport 12mp camera. Apple has the dual lens. This will be my main photo taker. I considered a DSLR, but I don't believe I will use it enough to justify the price. I've seen some photos taken with the new iPhone 8, 8+, and the s8+ and it appears with the right app, photos look stunning. I also may look into a lens kit for either phone down the line.

So, the tech specs are similar (12mp camera) but will apple's dual lens set up really beat out the s8+ single lens? Or am I splitting hairs with the camera set up on both?

Thanks. Only thing is doesn't the note 8 sport a dual lens system? s8+ is single lens so was hoping to see what are the advantages of dual lens vs. single lens.

Mr Mobile had nothing but great things to say about the iPhone 8 camera. He included a lot of comparison shots between the note 8 and iPhone 8. Seems like the iPhone 8 knocked it out of the park in the camera department but S8+ and note 8 are phenomenal too.
