More specifically the 160gb Samsung Spinpoint F1 HD161GJ
Unfortunately the HDD in my trusty old iMac has failed and this the only 3.5" SATA drive I have to hand, smaller capacity sure but way better than running off a 5400rpm drive via USB as I am now. Yay for SuperDuper! and proper backups
A quick google shows numerous problem with Spinpoint drives in these early machines but it seems to be those with higher capacity (mostly 1tb).
Not really wanting to open it up and install to remove it again can anyone provide some more info if this was fixed in newer drives (firmware perhaps?) or if it was isolated to those older, higher capacity drives
