Is the SD card slot in Notes under the back cover? I plan on using the card a lot on the upcoming Note 4, swapping it between laptop, video camera, tablet and Note. Taking the cover off every time sounds ridiculous. Can anyone share your experiences with this issue? (And no, transferring files via USB is not always an option, and even if it's an option, way too slow for large files.)

Might I ask why you would do that? Cards are cheap, why not buy a few? I keep a Standard size 32gb in my Video Camera and have a 64gb micro SD in my Note 3.
It is ridiculous. I transfer files, even large video files wirelessly without issue.
Yep wireless definitely seems the way forward... Thanks to the openness of android you have lots of different ways of achieving that.
WiFi is oftentimes not available when I need to transfer large files. Unless there's an easy way to make an ad-hoc WiFi between Note and Windows tablet or MacBook?
To clarify my usage case: I'm not using SD card as a permanent additional storage in the phone, I'm using it dynamically to work with various files that I need to juggle between different devices. With a side slot, like on most laptops and tablets, swapping is easy. Not so with a slot under the back cover. Imagine the pain if laptops had SD card under a cover underneath... LOL

Get Wifi File Transfer. Just set up a hotspot between Windows pc and Android and transfer away. The pro version allows for any file size.
Then get yourself memory card adapter and plug in to the phone usb slot directly using usb host. Problem solved. You get to leave the current memory card intact.
I dont know whether you are ios user but people who used ios always get mind blocked that they can't see anything that's not offered by ios.

Unless you put a tight back case on the Note 4, it will not be that bad. The back cover on Samsung phones are very easy to take off and put back on. And it's not like you have to move the battery and reboot every time, like on some phones.

I use Power Toggles to set up two icons directly on the home screen to activate the hotspot and then WFT, two taps and you're happening.I don't know exact speeds, but transferring 100GB of files over USB 2.0 can take probably hours...
None of these phones support UHS-I transfer speeds so even if the Note 4 had USB 3,0 (which it doesn't), we're talking standard USB 2.0 speeds.
Okay, since we are just speculating here.
USB 2.0 has a theoretical transfer speed of 480 Mb/s. In real world use, the actual speed maxes out around half that (240 Mb/s or 30 MB/s).
A Class 10 SD card is supposed to have a minimum speed read/write speed of 10 MB/s. UH3 is specified at a minimum 30MB/s. So what is the basis of assuming that the USB 2.0 connection is "way too slow" when the fastest SD card may or may not max out the connection? Yes, the UHS theoretical speeds can go way past USB 2.0 theoretical, but are the SD card readers that are built into various devices even support that? I doubt it.

I don't swap them about. Basically I had the 64GB in my phone and the 32GB in my tablet. When I got the 128GB I put that into my phone and put the 64GB on my tablet. The 32GB had gone on my wireless streaming device.
There is no need to keep swapping cards about. If I want to get content from my laptop to my phone or tablet I just connect them to the laptop via USB. If I want to transfer stuff between my devices I'll either send it via NFC, email or via USB on the go.
