I currently have owned a iPhone 6 plus since launch day and I've been honestly quite bored with apple's ios having had it since the iPhone 4s. So after considering giving android a try for the last week today I decided to pull the trigger. My curiosity got the best of me. I went and purchased the s6 edge at retail and deciding which route I was going to take within the 14 day return period. If I decided with the android I was hoping to sell my iPhone at a decent price to cover most of the cost of the s6 edge. After have using the s6 edge for about 12 (pretty much straight) hours. I have noticed these things between the 2 phones.

Pros:
- Screen - the resolution is gorgeous. Absolutely stunning!
- Love the edge on both sides, gives the look as images are rolling onto the screen if that makes sense. Much better then a flat screen IMO. - Also gives a slick classy look.
- Camera takes awesome photos.
- Multi windows support - don't find myself using it as much as I thought I would.
- Animated wallpapers.
- Totally customizable. Few android customizable settings I've been enjoying that I wish ios had.
- Gestures.

Cons:
- Within the 12 hours or so of constant use I have charged this phone about 3 full times. - Another words, battery life = terrible.
- Apps - Have most of the good ones on android from ios but missing a few important ones to me that were some of my main ones I used. (Fantastical, Clear, Money wiz 2) For me this is a near deal breaker.
- Phone not the most comfortable to hold, feels very slim, bezel around phone almost too thin to be comfortable to hold and slippery as is the iPhone 6/plus.
- Android - not the best OS, I much prefer ios.

Overall as many have heard it all comes down to whether you want ios or Android. For me after using the edge for a few hours I knew I didn't want to keep it and use it as my main phone. I like the phone - it's ok. But I do miss ios and the ease of getting around the phone, ios just feels more at home for me. I do have everything else apple products so it also helps to have an iPhone which syncs seamlessly with all the other apple devices. For me as I mentioned I will stick with the iphone. I do feel the 6 plus is still too big even after using it since Sept. So I will more then likely be getting the 6s not the plus. If your wanting an android device the s6 edge is probably the best one out as of now.

What do you guys think of the iPhone 6/plus vs the samsung galaxy s6 edge? Also would like to hear thoughts if anyone has used both. Hope this helps if anyone else is in the situation of debating to pick up a s6 or edge.

You need more time with android! 12 hours is not enough when you have been using ios for 5 years.

Use the phone for the 2 weeks you have and see how you feel then.

We always favour what we're used to.

I find iOS needlessly complicated. If I want to attach something other than a photo to an email, I want to be able to do that in the email app ffs.

New pair of shoes will never be as good in the first few hours than an old broken-in pair of shoes.

Fundamentally they are all much of muchness (phones) but it's the little subjective differences and personal preferences that will define how much enjoyment you get from using the device.

You will need to give the S6 a little longer and battery life in the first few days of android is always a bit iffy and not necessarily reflective of battery life after a couple of weeks.

Basically the grass isn't always greener in the other field, often it's the same grass albeit with just a different shade of green. However you will only know what little things that define your user experience matter to you personally by trying out other devices.

Give android another week or so, and if your still preferring iOS then switch back. There is absolutely nothing wrong preferring one over the other and often those small things that define our own experience are not necessarily better specs but small software things that we just feel more akin towards.

Whatever you settle on ... Enjoy :)

No way 12hrs gives you an understanding of the OS. I moved from iOS after nearly 6 yrs and it took me about 2 weeks to get a feel for it and it was probably 2 months before I had the phone configured and running the way I really liked it. The reason was there's so much to learn and lots of possibilities. Even just this year my Note 3 has seen it's share of new features and upgrades in apps, etc. that make it even better yet.

The one thing I can say is that such is the case with an Android, especially a nice one, vs iOS. iPhones just don't have that much growth potential. Once you outgrow training wheels, Android is a Godsend.

Cons:
- Within the 12 hours or so of constant use I have charged this phone about 3 full times. - Another words, battery life = terrible.

Common. It's new and bound to be that way. See my points above, you'll likely be configuring it better and better each day/week for a while. It took me about 2 months to realize great battery life.

- Apps - Have most of the good ones on android from ios but missing a few important ones to me that were some of my main ones I used. (Fantastical, Clear, Money wiz 2) For me this is a near deal breaker.

Can't say I'm familiar with them. Only you can make that call. Perhaps there's apps simliar for use on Android.

- Android - not the best OS, I much prefer ios. Overall as many have heard it all comes down to whether you want ios or Android. Of course, you've used it for quite a while. After a few months, you'll likely say the opposite. depends on what you use your phone for though. I'm a power user of all types of things.

what do I think......Android 5.x > iOS 8.x Haredware wise, I think the S6 Edge > iPhone 6. Have not used an edge as a primary phone but wife does have an iPH6 and I've used iOS for years. Been with Android now since launch of the Note 3.

You can't use a brand new device 12 hours of constant use and expect good battery life. Not even on the 6 Plus or Note 4.

My S6 battery life went from just average to excellent after 2 weeks. And that's with no updates.

I am in a good position to help here.

I have just went from a 6+ to Android... one Samsung Galaxy S5. Although my past is chequered with iOS and Android. A great deal too!

I got bored with iOS for the millionth time. I find Android much more interesting but iOS has some apps you can use where the equivalent Android app is not quite as good. You generally have to try a few free ones then purchase the best, i hate ads!

Thankfully i know the best due to experience with the OS.

Battery? Yeah, disable apps and what you don't use. You get into a rhythm of what works.

My iPhone? It's on eBay...

The latest and greatest on Android is more feature packed, cheaper and more flexible. iPhone is iPhone, you can't knock it. Its where you go if you fancy a change or are having reliability issues with your Android phone. You know what you are getting. :)

You don't have to use a phone you don't like especially at what these things cost. Neither Android nor iOS are special and neither IMHO are worth more than a couple hundred bucks.

iPhone 6+ aggressively reloads with Safari. Minus screen size difference much prefer the experience on $25 Moto G with mobile Firefox+ABP. Have opened like four tabs of the following link no problem (haven't tried maxing it) on Moto G but 6+ reloads with just like two. Both devices have 1GB DRAM.

True, but the experiences are different. Like the poster above prefers the Moto G due to tab reloading. I prefer iOS and I think Apple is more forward looking than android although google tries to put windows on a mobile device.

How forward looking when Apple limits DRAM to 1GB fully knowing they're working on an iOS release that requires 2GB or more? Windows as in Microsoft Windows for PC? Aren't they all, Windows, iOS and Android, evolving in the same direction with voice driven, multiwindow, service continuity, etc.? Actually, Windows 10 is looking more like the polished Android/TouchWiz experience than vice versa which is a good thing for consistent cross-platform experience.

hardware alone is not the gauge on forward thinking. That's like saying Samsung isn't forward thinking because even with 3 gig, people are reporting stuttering on the s6. It makes apples 1gig look better.

Im also not looking for a cross-platform experience. I can't speak for the majority of the 100s of millions of idevice users obviously. iOS has a classic look and feel that has survived the test of time; we'll see if Apple is going to preserve that.

That is such BS...there are people reporting all kinds of issues with the iphone...here on MR. Some reporting stuttering overheating and bending. That 1GB that my 6+ has is being phased out in the 6s to 2GB. So much for your example. Following ....not leading. That is not forward thinking. You can't even arrange the icons on IOS in the order you want them to be....not forward thinking at all. Apple is following Android more and more all the time. From larger screens to changing IOS to following Android features and enhancements.

Thats is what he does best. He tries to derail every thread where Apple doesn't come out on top. He doesn't like Android or own Android yet here he is in this section all the time.

ROFL, forward looking. Yeah a $10,000 watch is forward looking. More like forward milking.

To the OP, keep the iPhone if you must have those apps you listed.

The S6 Edge aggressively reloads apps and content far more than my 6+ ever does.. I already posted video showing the iPhone 6+ multitasking without reloads in another thread when someone over played it.

Basically because it happens to some does not mean it happens to all. Just as my frankly piss poor S6 Edge aggressive ram issue that made the news blog headlines (they were reports based on my xda posts) does not mean all S6's are bad ...

What nonsense. With 100s of millions of idevices everybody's experience will be different; and it doesn't mean that everybody's experience will be perfect. Just like the S6. Are you going to deny that people have not reported stuttering/performance/battery life issues with the S6 on MR?

Galaxy S6

And see above post.

I owned the S6 Edge. The screen is better, you have more cooler features, the camera is better, and the phone looks nicer, but at what cost? Lacking battery life, timely updates, having to deal with meddlesome carriers, fragile body, lack of accessories, and horrific bugs. Apple offers better updates, better user experience, less hassles, a more polished device, and more apps.

So other people are making things up also? As I said everybody's experience is different.
