So here's a thought, Samsung should cancel the Galaxy Note line, but not the device itself. Instead, rebrand the line as the Galaxy S Pro. Fans of the Galaxy Note Line would still buy as they know the device. But the millions of casual shoppers that know Galaxy S brand, won't feel like the Pro model as different line, as they do the Note Line. Instead they would see it as top of the line Galaxy S model. An option for upgrade. People love "upgrading. " Thoughts?

It makes sense in theory. However not sure it would be worth a whole re-branding and "confusion". You may have a point of customers not recognizing the "Note" as a superior phone to the regular S line.

I agree...the re-branding alone would alienate and confuse a lot of customers.

Kinda makes sense, but the Note brand does carry some weight by itself. I've always thought Samsung had the perfect release cycle, flagship Galaxy S in the spring, flagship Note in the fall. If they change that to a Galaxy S and Galaxy S Pro, then they would have to release both at the same time, releasing them separately might alienate those who buy in the spring.

From a corporate perspective, ditching a well established product line which has sucked up millions of dollars in marketing (think Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea) for no good reason is a bad idea.

The other problem is that S is already supposed to be flagship tier. Notice, the Note5 has the same CPU as the S6, and the S7 will have 4GB RAM like the Note5, which will continue being sold months after the S7 comes out. Samsung wants the S line to sell better and I think demoting it wouldn't help that situation.

I loved the Note. Had every iteration. Well of course, not the Note 5. Yeah, what did we do to piss of Samsung. A business decision apparently. I did hear it was being released January; as yet nothing.

I see all points, I'm a note die hard at this point. I bring up this "re-branding" opinion because I was just noticing how Samsung has gone with a Galaxy A9 Pro. Maybe a Galaxy S Pro would be in the works.

Maybe after Apple releases and iPhone Pro?

According to new rumors, Sammy has realized that was a mistake. So it seems the Note 6 will get a European launch.

http://www.sammobile.com/2016/02/05/rumor-galaxy-note-6-will-come-to-europe-but-no-new-edge-handset/
Yeah but same rumor mil also claimed Note 5 would release in January in Europe. They were all adamant it was happening.

I think it is definitely a case of wait and see, but don't have any expectations.

The fact that this year's edge device has grown to 5.5" making an edge + at 5.7" redundant does mean that there is at least hope it will happen though if they want to plug a gap.

From what I've read, the Edge+ is still happening. If it does happen, my guess is that it launches with the Note 6. Considering the Galaxy A9 Pro has just been identified with a 6 inch display, I'm betting the Edge+ and Note 6 get 6 inch displays.

Honestly just keep the note brand as that's pretty self explanatory as to the device. Continue to improve on build quality and software optimizations. Oh and stop marketing against iPhone directly in almost every commercial.

Problem is - that sammobile article referenced claiming note 6 is coming to Europe says that it's because the edge + isn't and there will not be one. So if that is already questionable info, then the Note claims are just much. We've got a fairly long wait to find out one way or the other ...

If they were to release either in Europe, the Note would be a wiser choice imho.

What the rest of the world is doing: Ignoring high end Android devices and buy cheaper Androids or, most likely, iPhones.
Lol....so that is why Samsung didn't sell the Note 5 in Europe.....glad you could clear that up for us. o_O

Anyone think they might release a Galaxy Note 6 edge?
No.

The practicalities of a writing surface on an edge is the prime reason they didn't follow up the Note Edge. It handled the situation by essentially partitioning the screen so that the edge part was treated as a separate screen entirely, unlike the Galaxy Edge devices that followed.

If a note 6 edge had two sides, the area for pen input would be utterly compromised as they would again have to treat it as separate screens, 3 in this case and the end result would be a disjointed and poor compromise with a restricted area for pen input - thus defeating the purpose.

No. They released the Note Edge right after the Note 4 and it was pretty clear that it was a one time experiment. Fore the S6, they released the S6 Edge and Edge+. Those Edge models had different edge panel functions then the Note Edge.

I have a Note Edge and there are times when I had trouble using the pen near the edge panel which is on the right side.

if you ask from me.. i think the Note is much better than the S Pro or what ever.. i really dont understand samsungs lines anymore... s, s pro, note, edge, tab, tab pro... x whatever.. it was much simple when they had tab line and note line.. then they gave pro, s, x, v , h g otjduch whatever line. and i was lost totally - didnt know anymore what was the difference.

I think I'd prefer segmented screens. The edge areas seem kind of useless to me for spreading content to them. The content seems to get distorted and just doesn't quite look right. It also doesn't look bezel-less, it actually looks like there is more bezel to the eye on the edge+ than the Note 5 for example.

As for my vote, I'd love a Note 6 edge!! Of course that means more models, further diluting Samsung's phone categories. For the high end they should have just 2 phones, a smaller edged S7 and a larger edged s7 with the S-pen, that's it for the high end. It would be nice to see the S-pen penetrate into the consumer market a lot more and this would mean Samsung could really hone in on perfecting less models.
