Samsung SSD 830: possible problems in a MacPro?

I've read about 2 persons having problems with integrating a Samsung SSD 830 in a Macbook (the SSD didn't work internally, however, all was fine when connected externally). To solve his problem, he used a Crucial M4 instead. Has anyone any experience with the Samsung 830 in a Mac PRO?

I would love to read the links that you read. they work pretty well in 2011 mac minis. If they are having problems in macbook pros that have nothing to do with the 7mm height then it must be the 17 inch model. (A known to be flaky machine with a few Sata III ssds)



I would also tell you putting them in a 2010 mac pro is a waste of money since 2010 mac pros run at Sata II speed not Sata III.
Or white plastic MacBooks if you meant macbook and not macbook pro. SATA II not data III.


Just use samsung 470 series they are as reliable as any ssd on the market. I do have samsung ssd 470 use in my mac pro they were fine.

@philipma: these links are in German, let me know if you'd like to have them nevertheless. The new Samsung 830 SSD has according to Samsung a rather high write endurance. This is very important for me, as I do have a lot to write and the price difference to the older series is relatively small.
 
Samsung 830 Installed in Macbook Pro 2011 (early)

I just installed this drive into a Macbook Pro 15" 2011. The z height of 7 mm is not an issue due to the mounting hardware the Macbook has, so you don't need the upgrade kit to install this. In a 2011 it negotiates to 6 Gbps.

You need to enable Trim on this manually. I chose the method listed here http://digitaldj.net/2011/07/21/trim-enabler-for-lion/

The install was quick and easy.

no problems with samsung SSD 830 in mac pro!

i bought a samsung ssd 830 (model MZ-7PC128)with 128 gigs today and built it in my mac pro (2007) with no adapter and with no problems. i just removed my old harddisk and put the new ssd directly into the sata port of my mac pro. started up from snow leopard dvd, made a format to "mac os extended" journaled and booted from ssd. because the new ssd does not fit in the original apple tray, i made a little mod with a original apple headphone case, to hold the ssd in the right level position. i fixed the headphone case with double sided tape on the cooler housing. if my post was helpful, i would be pleased if you watch my youtube channel: www.youtube.com/daleyelama ...see pictures from my "mod" here:
