I've always thought Samsung's browser as one of the best. Their browser has been in the playstore since Sept /2015. But now they are rolling out a big update. They now have added adblock extension support. Great move at putting this in the playstore so they can keep updating it separately from the OS updates.

You have to be on Lollipop or above to install.

I am still on 4.4.4 on all my devices and I am rooted to block all ads so I really don't need what this update brings.

Actually it's only for marshmallow right now, lollipop in the next couple of months. Really looking forward to this, though for now I'm using nochromo, which is a version of chrome with adblockers built in. You have to sideload it though, but so far seem to work great.

How does it compare to Firefox with uBlock Origin add-on which is considered one of the best non-root options along with Chrome plus Adguard?

For me it works much better. Firefox always seemed to run chopper than chrome so I only used it for a day, but so far nochromo runs exactly like stock chrome. I just wish the icon wasn't so ugly.

:)
The Samsung browser is great though will sure be good with baked in ad blocking.

The browser itself has support for adblock extensions. Which I prefer over baked in functionality. That way you can leave it to the company that specialize in this extension and update regularly.

And of course the other advantage of the stock Samsung browser is fingerprint integration for logging into websites. Extremely convenient and used ALL THE TIME for me.

Before I started rooting my phones purely so that I could use Adaway, I would use Firefox with the adblock extension and it always worked perfectly. Now that I use Adaway, it don't matter what browser I use. I don't see ads anywhere.

Oh for sure, if you still root, then AdAway and Youtube AdAway is a must with Xposed Framework. But most people simply don't root, and this new upgrade is very much welcome. Rooting will also not be an option for those that want to keep Samsung Pay. A lot of people use AdBlock for their PC, so great to finally see it on a stock browser that will now get updated on its own. No more waiting for an OS update. Here's hoping Samsung does this with their other apps like Camera, S Planner and S Note/Action Memo. I'm guessing/hoping this may very well be the case with their new focus on optimizing software.

If I had the choice I would have Safari, but the Samsung one is still good. Better than Chrome, which is janky on a phone in my opinion.

Kind of related, but can anyone venture a guess why Google/Chrome doesn't allow you to adblock on Android? Seems kind of weird in how strongly they support adblock on the PC. I like Chrome, but I think it's time to switch to the Samsung browser again.
