Anandtech rolled out their review of the quad core Core i7 2820M (2.3GHz). It's still a 45W TDP processor but it manages incredible battery life. You can expect some 14" quad core machines that aren't going to go nuclear or be tethered to an outlet. Arrandale level battery life from a quad core processor. The Intel HD 3000 graphics are an impressive increase over the previous generation and can hold their own against the GeForce 320M. Dual core Sandy Bridge is going to have the game 12 execution unit IGP onboard as well.

What also stands out is you're effectively getting a mobile Core i7 920 processor when it comes to CPU performance.

There are also price and clock speed lists for the entire LV and ULV lineup. The nomenclature is even more annoying though for non-standard voltage processors.

I was just reading up on this. I've been looking at getting a 13" MBA, just, well, because. But I've been holding off for a variety of reasons. If I keep holding off until Apple updates them (probably before next x-mas, knowing Apple) I'll have an air with 11 or 12 hours of battery life!

I just want to see what Alienware has in store for the M11x at CES this year. Dual core Sandy Bridge was delayed a month to clear out the stocks. Clarksfield (45 nm) was in much more dire need of a replacement.

Macbook Pros without a quad core this year would be a grave insult.

Well, this might cause a damper on Macbook Air Sales...

Wow -

Those chips look overwhelming. Now I can't wait for an update to the 11 inch MacBook Air. I almost picked up a new one because I love the form factor - but it's now impossible to pay (IMO) for a laptop with a 1.4/1.6 C2D processor.

Just can't do it...

Same boat! As much as I want one and as much as I know it will take a while to refresh the MBA (Launched when? October 20th? - that's less than three months ago). The differences in processor speed and efficiency are just too staggering to accept.

Wow that is kick ass as they just addressed one of the largest issues of the MBP using quad core processors...maybe we will see a quad core afterall.

There always appears to be a sharp increase in hardware purchases just before a major release.

On /g/ some people are raging beyond usual. As always it's the idiots that get trilled into "buying now" when clear signs of an CPU refresh are HITTING YOU IN THE BALLS.

Now, where is that LGA 2011 love?

I've spent the past week over on /g/ dealing with that. I've made good use of my reaction images.

Q3 2011

So have I. In fact there is q thread on /g/ right now about DRM and Sandy Bridge. Comments are beyond RAGE, innane and down right fullretard.png

The above is without mentioning the current level of TOLD and arse hurt AMD fanboys are being fed; Christ the cherrypicking benchmarks of AMD CPUs beating SNB chips is amazing. Not that I think AMD is bad, it's just they are out of touch and better hurry the f up. Having Intel again as monopoly will hurt us.

Q3 2011 is too far away damit:mad:

I'm glad to see the WiDi hit 1080p. The DRM and remote shutdown don't bother me. There is a lot to say for theft prevention.
