Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone here has a clue as to what the base model will more and likely be later this year or early next year. I was looking at the leaked pictures of q4 2011 sandybridge processors and it looks like there will be:
4 core 3.6ghz
6 core 3.2ghz
6 core 3.3ghz

You guys think the base will be that 4 core 3.6ghz?

Would be nice if apple stepped things up and made the base 2 cpu and max out at 4 cpu :) I maintain some Dell r900's now that have 4x6core procs...fun stuff!

Yes. They won't start out at 2 CPUs again and they won't offer 4 CPU systems - it doesn't serve the target audience correctly. There are a lot of other threads discussing this already.

They could opt to offer the Quad in the base SP, if it's the cheapest CPU of the series (i.e maximize the margins within the target MSRP). But given the faster clock speed, I suspect it won't be that different than the slower Hex (reminiscent of the current SP Hex and DP Octad models).
