Hi guys,

As per this thread (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/343219/) - I repaired my screen as it had the dreaded bottom 1/3 yellowness.

However, the new screen now exhibits uneven brightness. The bottom 1/3 is significantly brighter compared to the upper 2/3.

Is this normal? Has anyone received a 'perfect' SR Macbook Pro display, yet?

Oh. This new screen is a LG one.

Cheers,

I don't know how to fix it but I would point out that my Macbook Pro has been perfect. When the screen is turned to the right angle all the colors are of even brightness, and there is no yellowing or overheating. They're out there!

I tried several macbook pros when they first came out with the LED screen and ended up taking back three of them. (Yellow) Gave up and bought a MacBook. Have had that since then until about three weeks ago when I went back to the Apple Store and saw the MacBook Pro screen again and took a chance. Sold my MacBook and got a 2.2 MacBook pro. It is the LG screen and is as nice a screen as I've ever had. No yellowing and evenly lit. So I guess good ones are out there somewhere. Perfect? Not sure any are perfect.

Welp.. yup. Going to try my luck and decided to get another repair. Hope to get a more evenly lit screen!

Update:

I got my screen fixed and they replaced it with a Samsung one.

Except this one has 3 dead pixels across the top half of the screen.

As the guy who was repairing my screen was leaving the company, he couldn't accept any more incoming repair orders.

So, I decided to give a call to the Apple Call Centre and get another referral. The guy was incredibly sympathetic and passed me information to another 'authorized' repair dealer. After trudging my way over there in the snow for 20 minutes and riding a Metro for another 30, they told me, 'We don't do Apple computers'.

Unbelievable.

Sorry for venting - I'm just incredibly frustrated right now. I've wasted five hours this morning going back and forth along with waiting an hour on the phone (and counting)..

I had a perfect LG screeen, no issues at all, sold it and bought a macbook and now happy

Update:

I've had my display changed three times now - each time the quality has gone worse. Either riddled with dead pixels or very poor uniformity on the screen.

Gave a call to Apple Canada and spoke to my product specialist. She's going to give me a brand new replacement and upgrade my hard drive to the 200GB 7200 RPM one.

No complaints! Apple came through.

Very satisfied with the outcome.

That's great to hear that they are making things right. For the record I have an LG screen and it has been great since day 1 when they were first released last summer.
