I purchased a Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 8GB.

Would this enable Metal in a Mac Pro 5,1? If so, will I need power adaptors/other configuration to get it working?

yes it works, you'll need a dual mini 6 pin to a dual 8 pin(i think) should work no problems, yes it is metal
