SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7950 problems in mac pro 1.1

After reading a bunch of cool things about this card , I went out to spend some money to buy one ($450). installed the card and it seemed to be very glitchy. screen flickers and such. I installed the drivers from the website to no avail.
I wrote customer support and got no help from them. other than
'Requirement for this card is Mac Pro 2009 or later build, your 2007 is not suitable to run this card.'
thanks for that I guess…
so how am I going to make this card work on my mac pro with 10.7.5 installed
 
10.8.3+ has native drivers. Could you make a test installation and see if that alleviates some of the problems?

Nevermind, I just noticed you're on a 1,1

You should contact MR user MacVidCards and seek his advice.

it's actually a 2.1 , but it doesn't really matter.

I feel that the company has sold these cards in a very deceitful manner.
If the mac pro 1.1 and 2.1 are not supported , why do they include driver for them that do not work.
I believe they knew it would cause issues , but just don't care about the consequences.

I would like to get together with other people who bought this card and now found out it doesn't even work. PM me.
 
I wrote a post when they came out.

Lovwely boot screens on a 1,1, but the Saphire drivers for 10.7.5 have broken 32 bit support.

You MAY be able to use the boot.fi trick to get it to run a 64bit kernel, but nobody I know has tried.

Easiest to do a 10.8 or 10.9 or 10.10 install where the card will work just fine.
 
I think Apple is behind the messed up driver.
After I installed Yosemite it would work. But it's so annoying.
