is it safer to just stick with the sata 2 ssd because of performace issues and beachballs associated with sata 3 ssds?
thanks for all the help looking to get one for my AIR and and Pro.. also and suggestions would also be very appreciated

I never had one beach ball with a Vertex 3 Max IOPS in my 2011 MBP... but that's one case. With the mixed opinions the SATA 2 is the "safe" bet. If you want SATA 3 speed, then get a SATA3 drive and simply return it for a SATA 2 drive if you have issues.

Why do you want to replace the one in your air?

i was looking at OWC and wanted the 240 GB for more storage space...i constantly travel and dont want to carry around an external hard drive
