SATA III/ 6gb drive stability on the 2011 Mini

Will be picking up a mini as a spare workstation in the near future and will be installing a new SSD/HDD combo. There are a lot of options for SSD's out there and it seems the faster they go, the more they crash and burn.

Any Good/Bad experiences out there? Would like to hear! Time machine is great, but random crashes, lock ups and SSD disasters are something I'd like to avoid at all costs.

Already have one of those in my MacPro... It's stable and fast for the SATA II generation of devices.

Was interested to hear from other Mini owners that may have gone the Sandforce(Owc/Ocz/etc) or Intel route on the higher speed interface.

I haven't installed a SSD in any of my Minis yet, but I've read that OWC says that SATA III SSDs work fine in the new Minis. I would go for it and get a SATA III SSD.

As I think philipma1957 has said elsewhere 3rd party SSDs may have a little higher failure rates than the SSDs that Apple uses, but still most users aren't going to encounter such a failure.

In terms of the 2011 Macs, the MacBook Pro is the only Mac that has stability issues with SATA III SSDs. However the iMac uses custom temperature monitoring which causes fans to run at full speed all the time if you just put a 3rd party SSD in it, I think (OWC has a Turnkey program with a proprietary hardware fix apparently).

Been using a crucial C300 in my 2010 and now 2011 mini zero issues. xbench scores around 400.
