I am getting frustrated with my current USB arrangements on my M1 mini. And have been thinking about this Satechi USB-C Stand and Hub (with or without SSD option) since I first saw them.

The reasons I have not bought one:
Not powered so limited power to attached devices;
SSD rather than NVMe (if I decided to go down that road);
Too few USB-C sockets.

It isn't that I want to attach loads of devices and expect them to run at full speed. But I have a number of things that use USB-C including, for example, backup SSD drives - and would only expect to be using one at a time. As well as USB-A (microphone, speaker, keyboard charger lead, etc.) And I want to simply connect and forget. Too many people talk about insufficient power. And drives dropping off-line.

Anyone think Satechi (or AGPTEK with their similar device) might bring out an updated version at some point? One with power and more sockets. They can take the memory card reader out!

there
I LOVE SATECHI!

the year I purchased the small 4 port USBc for the MacBook air m1
but that hub is in the Mac Miini m1 for good and now is using 4 ssd drives flawlessly.
the only complain is the chord is kinda weird as the hub is suspended in air
Other than that the hub is great, and that was the lowest priced one.

im waiting for a better Mac mini bottom hub with a MNVe drive and more usbC ports, since I only use usbC now.
the macmini one they sell know is good, but they seem to improve their product in time.

hoped this helped!

I have a couple of small USB hubs with mixed USB-C and USB-A. Unfortunately, with the four drives I currently have, they need to be split across them - I think due to power issues.

The Satechi four port looked attractive but would be upset if it didn't support what I need!

Having power would provide certainty.

Bought the Satechi slim dock for iMac. I wanted a non powered HUB to add to my M3 iMac (4ports) so I can plug in legacy stuff when needed or card readers. Without having to reach behind the iMac where my other permanent always connect drives are attached. Bonus having a 2TB ssd drive in there. Bought recommended Crucial P2 type from Satechi site. It's all working seamlessly and I can plug in stuff in and out easily from the dock. Portable HD, Flash drives, even CD/DVD/BR drive connects and works.
