I use TextEdit to compose a lot of responses to threads here (and at other forums) -- using it to type up this post right now.

The documents are not saved -- they're almost always deleted once the post is done.

So... when I'm done with them, I type "command-W" to close them.

Of course, the OS presents a "Save" dialog. In Sonoma, it looks like this:
save box.png

In earlier versions of the OS, I could type "command-D" to close and delete the document, and it would be gone.

However, with Sonoma, Command-D won't "activate" the "Delete" button any more.

Does any know if there's a command-key combination that will activate the "Delete" button, without having to click on it with the mouse pointer?

Thanks...

I'll give that a try (not booted to Sonoma right now).

You can create a shortcut to close the document without saving.
Automator – QuickAction – Workflow receives no input – in TextEdit – Run AppleScript:
Code:
tell application "TextEdit" to close the front document without saving
Save, then go into Keyboard - Keyboard Shortcuts – Services – General and set a shortcut like ⌘⌃W

Thanks for the replies.
The "command-delete" combination works.
