i defragmented my windows xp pro installation on virtual pc without thinking first. it being windows, the "system files" don't move. so now i have my regular stuff at the beginning of the drive and the "system files" in the middle. why does windows even install it in the middle of the drive? so now my virtual drive is about 4 gigabytes instead of just over 1. i'm assuming it's saving all the info from the first bit to the last bit. i don't know what to do. i don't think there is anyway to cluster all the files together in a big heap.

any ideas,
reality

This happened to my last March. There are a variety of ways you can fix this, but here is what I did:

1. First, borrow a friend's Zip/Jaz Drive.
2. If option 1 is not possible, create a new AIM account.
3. Buy a Mac; new, used - doesn't matter.
4. Transfer files from the PC via Zip/Jaz/AIM to the Mac.
5. Sell PC for $49 on Ebay or Craigslist.
6. Reboot your life in easy mode.

what in the world does this have to do with anything??
