I use iCloud Drive as my cloud drive / solution.

I have many Excel files stored in iCloud Drive. Most of the files I can save with no problem. One file -- and one file only -- always "gives me a problem" when I try to save the file on iCloud Drive after making a few edits by displaying the following pop-up window:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/74uvbve8w96xi0i/20190519_macrumors forum_excel file in icloud.png?dl=0

Would appreciate any and all feedback as to a) what causes this to occur for this one Excel file and b) how can this be fixed.

Thanks.

It looks like a shared file and someone has made changes - so it's asking which version to keep?

Perhaps you logged in from different email? do you have more than one drop box account that you can access the file from?

If you cannot save the file - perhaps you can drag the file to your desktop, open / edit / save and put it back in drop box?

Appreciate your response...

The Excel file is saved / stored in iCloud (not Dropbox).

There is no other AppleID and there is no other user which is why this situation is so weird (ie. it does occur with any other fine).

Thanks.

hi
it is strange, isnt it.
when you get this dialog i am guessing you always choose "save it" ?
in which case it is perpetuating the original situation where something caused it to think "you" were a different user.
if it was a file that originally came from someone else or you used a file as a template basically that you changed into yr file, that might have caused this??
im with you however, in that i would want to solve it by removing it as a shared document (?) and in the end, clicking overwrite it in order to ensure you are always maintaining and working on the latest (and only) version.

I always press overwrite but that does not solve the problem...I will try deleting the file from iCloud Drive and then restoring it from by backup to see whether that makes a difference, what a total PITA!

Thx!
