GB lets you export to iTunes as an AIFF. From there you can convert the file to whatever the default format is in your iTunes import preferences.

Just take a finished song, go to File -> "Export to iTunes" from within GB, find that file in iTunes, ctrl-click it and select "Convert Selection to AAC/MP3" or whatever your default format is.

audacity

Grab a copy of audacity from audacity.sf.net. It's free / GPL audio editor... You can use it to edit and convert your stuff after you export it from GarageBand.

I've just been dragging the file from iTunes to the desktop and then importing into audacity.
