I have the "Lifeless Planet" installed on my Mac and have played it a few times. The problem is that I cannot find a way to quit without using Command Q. I know that this is the wrong way to do this and read that hitting Escape is a better way. I have not been able to find anything in the game software that allows Quit Save and that goes for other games that I have on the Mac. What am I missing? I haven't had a game on the new iMac before so am sort of at a loss with OS X and the game controls. I wish I could be more clear but I am just getting started playing a few adventure games and this is new to me.

I can't comment on that specific game, but any correctly written OS X app/game should handle quit events and either save automatically or offer a "Do you want to Save?" option to the user. That's true regardless of if you select Quit from the application menu, hit Cmd-Q, right-click the game in the Dock and select Quit, select the game in the app-switcher and hit Q.. etc.

(Force Quitting obviously is a different story, and should only be done if the game is unresponsive).

Cmd-S is the standard keystroke for saving in most OS X applications, but if any given app/game doesn't support Cmd-Q correctly, they might not support Cmd-S either.
