I have recently purchased an external hard drive to 1-back up all my files and 2- my ibook's 40gb's are full.

I have saved both my itunes and iphoto to the external hard drive. When I go to the external hard drive's list of files that are contained in it; there are three 1-iphoto, 2- itunes and 3- itunes music library.sml.

I click on "iphoto library", then click on "library.iPhoto" and get iphoto, no problem, just like it appears on my internal hard drive.

My problem with itunes is this; I click on "itunes" in the external hard drive's list of saved folders and get an option of two more folders. ONe is labeled "itunes library" and the other is "itunes music." I click on itunes library and nothing happens. I click on "itunes music" and I get a library of bands/artists placed in blue folders.

How do I get the external hard drive set up so that I can click on a folder and it opens like itunes appears on the internal hard drive?

Thanks.

A little confused? are you trying to run itunes from an external hard drive?
the itunes library holds the info related to your playlists and settings. the itunes music folder holds the actual audio files.
