ive been trying to figure out how to save or use a pic (set as wallpaper, set for contact) that has been emailed to me on my iPhone. anyone have any idea? or is this another common sense task that apple left out of the iphone. thaks for your help

Yes I believe this is another common sense task Apple left out for THE TIME BEING. I really cant wait till firmware 1.x update I'm dying here Apple
 
Saving email photos.

Can't do it on the iPhone yet. If you really want it, forward the email and attachment to yourself at an address on your computer. Then save the attachment, import into iPhoto, and sync to the iPhone. Then use the Photo widget to set wallpaper.
 
I know this is an old thread but it needed updating due to recent firmware.

To save a picture emailed to you just, tap the picture and there will be a save button. Tap it and the picture will be saved to the iPhone's camera roll.
