What i want to do with my project is.Be able to scan coupons into the phone and then at checkout scan phone and it will use all coupons that are elightible?

Do i need to use some type of framework for the scanning to work or is there any other way to do this for iOS 8?

I think he explained himself.

1. He wants to scan a bunch of Supermarket type coupons into an App on the phone.

2. He wants to take the phone to the Check out counter and have the phone scanned and all the relevant and valid coupons would be uploaded to the checkout.

Not sure this is viable since the coupons need to be surrendered to the store so still need the coupons.

Well you could take a photo of the coupon and then display the photo on screen and let the checkout person scan it like normal.

I assume that scanning done by the store is reading the bar code on the coupon. There are libraries available for scanning bar codes.

I have no idea if a store would allow scanning a coupon from an image displayed on a phone.

Some retailers care a lot about getting the coupon. I've seen a "print" option where you must print out a copy. This doesn't work well with mobile. Others really don't care as the coupon is more just to get you in the door. They put codes to see who comes in from where, but that's about it.

IMO, they have several different ways of dealing with it, and a cashier will probably be clueless about it.

If it involves food, I order 1st, if they don't take the coupon, I cancel the order and order something else. I like coupons but not how they are used by some.

If you're developing a universal system, that'll be a real challenge. If this is for one client, I'd get more detail about how they process the coupon.

Maybe look at some of the other mobile offerings that process coupons.

If i am right i seen then scan coupon but i can't rem what store does it:)

Before worrying about the technical aspects of this project I would consider the business aspects and whether this is a feasible idea. Forgive me for being presumptuous, but it does not sound like you know much about the process of how different stores treat coupons and whether any store chain would allow your idea

Well i know some store that use scan coupon right from the phone. But i not sure if they scan all the weekend coupons.
