That wasn't the point of the post. The point was to say that he actually tried scanning the iPad, just to see what it would look like, and it scanned grayscale and not in color.

Yeah. I figure it's just how LED light, specifically, is reflected in xerox imaging, no? Strange, nonetheless. But kudos to the OP for being curious, I suppose...
 
I guess it's because the LED elements aren't actually coloured, they only emit coloured light when they are on. If they were actually coloured then the screen would appear white when it was off, not black. Same with a CRT.

I would go with that theory - if they emitted no light when they were off.

I think it is time for me to do some reading on how colour LCD panels work, I suspect given this problem that there is 3 coloured LEDs behind each of 3 LCD on/off panels. So What I am getting is the black/white of the LCD with no colour form the LEDs.
