I recommend FineScanner. That's what I am using and it's pretty interesting. Its fast and quality of the JPG are also at a standard level. It can create PDF also. To open the scans we simply able to use Siri Shortcuts. But if you wish to use the free version you have to ignore the ads. But if you like it you can upgrade it to a premium version.

What are you missing in Scanbot and Scanner Pro? Those two are by far the most reputable scanner apps.

i can talk about ios ScannerPro as I use it a lot. Individual unpaid user here:
-odd but very easy to use
-produces medium or better pdf images
-after scanning saving to the cloud, print, email, text the output very easy reliable.

but the bad
-the user interface as always been backwards to logic, do the backward thingy and you will be ok
-its is consistently impossible to print some home appliance manuals for some odd reason
-focus and cropping only work if aprox 70% of the paper edge is well defined

thoughts:
-there may be free offerings for pdf scanning built into ios these days
-for house hold usage completely totally replaced a desk top scanner no problem
-i have never tried to directly save to the home file server as "smb://fileServer/pdf/new" Thinking the iPhone is no up to this tech yet.

I would say Scanner Pro as that's my favorite, but seeing as Readdle just made PDFExpert a subscription app I am going to find an alternative just in case. I could see that going subscription for certain features too which I dont agree with that practice.

I have heard good things about Adobe Scan; and it gets high ratings and is free. Scanbot is another good choice.

It depends if you need OCR or not (which I do).
