My HP 6000 Envy all in one, no longer scans with Mac based apps: Image Capture, Preview, Sys Prefs>Printers and Scanners>Scan etc.

All I get is this message:

It works fine with VueScan, but I don't really want to pay for something that I only use once in a blue moon.

Does anyone have a solution or can point me to a free scanning app that actually works?

Vuescan is an incredible app and over the long term inexpensive. I purchased my license in 2008 and am still receiving updates 15 years later. Cost so far: <$5 a year and still dropping.
Looks like I might have to. Just gone from Big Sur to Ventura and no change.:(:mad:

I have a 2020 iMac 27" with an Intel chip and a 2020 MacBook Air 13" with an M1 chip. Both are running Ventura 13.6 and HP Smart 16.6.1. Both are connected to an HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e. Both computers print fine, but when trying to scan, the Intel iMac says "Scanner Not Available" while the M1 Air scans fine.
