Hi Guys,

So I am planning to purchase a 11” iPad Pro this week but I am scared and extremely Paranoid about a certain thing, So I wanted to ask you guys what is the Possibility of this thing happening ? So I am in Mumbai-India and there are these Apple Premium Reseller Stores here no Apple Direct Store, and out of all the stores there was this one store which had the 11” iPad Pro on display and in it, what happened was even after I would switch off True Tone and also the Night Mode, the screen would still be very warm, yellowish and yes even the Night Mode was off. So my concern is and my biggest Paranoia is, what if the device I purchase has this problem where in even if you disable the True Tone and Night Mode the screen is still very warm and yellowish instead of the Blueish white display that Apple is known for (And Boy ! I love those Blueish white Display) what if my device will have the Warm, Yellowish Display even after True Tone is switched off.

And before someone points that thing out to me, Let me tell you there is no 14 days No questions asked Return Policy here. I cannot just return the product and get money back for no solid reason. So to Mitigate this problem I am trying to Purchase a March-2019 product the logic behind it is, the Production Line would have stabilized in terms of the kind of quality of the iPads they are producing, so hopefully the Risk is minimized by picking up a very latest Manufacturing date product !

What do you guys think about this strategy ? what do you guys think are my chances of getting a device which display is very yellowish and warm even after True Tone & Night Mode is switched off ? If I follow this ritual and exercise?

Look forward to the comments !!

Thanks !!

Nobody can predict the outcome for you. My guess is that screens now are as good as they were last year. This forum has not seen many complaints about the screen colours at all.

But doesnt that sound like your Faith/Belief rather than the current fact ? I mean Just saying. Dont get me wrong !!

No it doesn’t have anything to do with beliefs. It’s a simple truth. I cannot predict how the display of your unopened device will look like. Not on an iPad, not on a Mac, not on any other product.

I am however providing you with the data point that I haven’t seen many or any people complain on this dedicated iPad forum about their iPad Pro’s display. If you feel I’m missing a discussion with many people that prove your fears - please provide a link.

Until that time - nobody can predict the outcome. I cannot make your purchase decision easier as you attempt to buy from a place without return policy - a general no-go for me.

I am not sure I would buy an Apple product if the country I use it in does not have a proper Apple Store.

Well the Entire Country of India buys it ! Apple still does Business in India through its appointed Premium Resellers. Nobody has a problem. Yes you do not get all the privileges of Apple Store in Reseller but if you are talking specifically the 14 day return policy, it is the Country's Policy to be blamed not Apple. And it goes without saying Apple will not implement this policy here it will be abused left right and centre with people just buying Apple Products for fun, using it for 14 days and return it back. This is a highly populated country with not so high per capita income, not as high as China !!

But in that case I will not be able to buy Apple Products here at all !! I will have to go abroad, like U.S, U.K, Europe or Singapore, Dubai.

Could you get them to open the box to test the display before you buy it?

Without Paying Full Money, You cant even touch the Box, forget about opening it !! And once Money Paid It will not be returned come what May !! Unless there is a Hardware Defect in the Product !! That too it will have to go through a lot of Tests and Evaluation by the Apple After Sales Service Team !!

I think you are worrying about something very uncommon. The display will not look yellowish. My display is blue and very white with true tone off, or night mode off.

There’s no telling what may be going on, or what kinda of settings have been adjusted on that display model.

If your buying one brand new in the box, the display is not going to be yellow.

My heart says that, but my Mind says, watch out Dude !! lol !! So I am waiting for the April Manufactured Stocks to hit the stores I think I will take the plunge then ! As many here have said, we cannot say what is going to come out of the box when you buy the product, so why not minimize my risk by buying a product which is late in production and has consistent quality standards in the Manufacturing process ! I know this is all assumption and some theory on paper but that is only how customers like me would want to tread in such a precarious situation.

In Mumbai, is it possible to buy the product online from a site that DOES have a return ability?

In India unless there is a defect with your product no seller accepts returns !! Period ! All sales are final and non-returnable !!

Ok first of all, you are worrying about something that has never happen! That’s like me saying, I’m gonna go buy a new phone from apple. What if I get a cookie in the box instead of a phone? It is silly. Very silly. I would be worrying about something more legitimate if I were you. Whatever you are claiming to worry about, doesn’t even exist.

And we are very much in the later production period. We are nearing 6 months since launch, and apple starts building these devices months and months before then. Also, any manufacturer states what you are claiming. Although, the warranty will cover you for any workmanship defects. And if there is something wrong with the iPad then the store will exchange it for you.

Where in the world has anyone received a 2018 iPad Pro and said, my display is yellow. I’m going to return it.

?

I’d go buy one if you want it. Even if they are assembled in April or not, the displays or panels used during the factory build was probably built 12 months prior to that newer date that your after.

Seriously. Your not gonna get a yellow panel lol. I’m pretty sure all of the panels are the same in the new iPads. And there is not a newer revision of the LCD used.

iPads are pretty darn reliable. And they seem to be pretty tough too. Mine is very consistent. I’ve owned (3) iPad Pro 11” models since 01-2019 and they are all super bluish and super whitish in the panel color department. And the displays all looked the same, aside from slight variation in back light. And my oldest build date iPad, is my current one. Mine is a 1TB 11” cellular model manufactured in 12-2018. It is perfect, and I wouldn’t trade it for a April 2019 model for any reason.

Anyways, good luck. Other than possibly getting one for less money. That would be the only reason I would hold off. You are losing valuable time in the devices life cycle lol.

That is very well said, and very well explained. That is the best Confidence anyone can give to OP with the facts and data. Even after this, if the OP feels any kind of uncertainty I think he should stick to what he feels right, and gives him the most feeling of security and confidence. Like people have said no one can predict what is going to come out of the Box, all we can do here is help you with the Facts and Data that this forum and users have seen and experienced. You sure can wait and buy only the April Manufactured Device if that is what suits you best, but remember with passing time you are coming even more closer to the next iteration of the next iPad Pro. Good Luck ! Keep us posted, how did it turn out for you in the end !!
