Scared to Unlock My iPhone

Hey, all. I posted this in other forums, but I just wanted to see what you guys think. I've been researching about unlocking my iPhone for the past few days and I have a few questions:

1. Is there a good, working SIM unlocking method for firmware 1.1.2? (mine was 1.0.2 out-of-the-box, then upgraded to 1.1.1 then 1.1.2)
2. If I want games and other applications, do I still have to jailbreak the phone even after unlocking the SIM, or will that take care of the jailbreaking itself?
3. What is the BEST or most popular or most reliable SIM unlocking method?
4. If I mess up during or after the unlocking/jailbreaking or decide later on that I want to re-lock the phone, will I be able to do this?
5. What websites do you recommend for learning about this stuff and for getting applications and games after jailbreaking?
6. What features simply will not work after unlocking/jailbreaking? I think I read somewhere that the visual voicemail won't work unless you're using an AT&T account. Is this true?
7. Is there really anything to be afraid of with unlocking or jailbreaking my iPhone? Really?
8. Does the iPhone work with Verizon accounts after unlocking? Which carriers are proven to NOT work after unlocking?

Right before a new computer comes out everyone starts saying "Don't buy anything right now!" The idea is that it's silly to buy something a month or so before everything's going to change.

I'm starting to feel that way about the February iPhone SDK announcement. If you haven't jailbroken your phone yet, I'm thinking it's to the point where you should wait and see what happens.

Now, the whole thing may be a dissapointment and you'll want to jailbrake anyway. In that case you lost 2 months. But what if it gives you everything you've been hoping for? You'll have gone to a lot of trouble for nothing.

I realize others won't agree with this, but I think the closer we get to the announcement, the better it is to wait. (Heck, maybe even January's Macworld will give more info on the subject, helping you decide what to do at that point.)

Hmm maybe you find someone who knows what to do. No offense but it looks like you have NO clue what you doing.
It has to be GSM so in US it will be ATT or TMobile. I know there are some virtual providers but have no idea which are GSM and which are CDMA
You can always brick your phone in worst case scenario
Jailbrake is gaining read access to phone, SIM unlock is just...SIM unlock. But you need to have read/write access to run simlock app.
As I said. You rather find someone else...

Dont use 1.1.2 theres no reason to, download 1.1.1 ipsw and downgrade to 1.1.1.

You cant really sim unlock without jailbreaking

AnySim installed from the phone itself

1.1.1 you can revirginize it yes and then restore to any version

Make sure you running 1.1.1 and point your phone to jailbreakme.com, thats all you need, almost all apps are avalible there.

Visual voicemail will not work, youtube supposidly works with a hack, sometimes you need the cell provider's data network info for data

No, there is nothing to fear, and very little chance of permanent damage.

Yes verizon will still work. I believe AnySim works with any sim anywhere.

No, Verizon will not work, as their network uses CDMA and not GSM.

It's safe to unlock really; as long as you have a backup of the seczones and such it's nearly impossible to brick your phone while unlocking it.

Unlocking will only give you bad service from tmobile, with missing features, and silly little apps like pseudo GPS only accurate enough to tell you what planet you are on.
And as a bonus feature;
an unstable phone with many problems (read all the posts) and no updates.

Hmmm tough choice.

Okay, this probably gonna sound dumb, but I'm having trouble finding a way to access the files and folders on the iPhone using Windows Explorer. Can someone help me out with this? Thanks.
