Hi All,

Is anyone else experiencing a loud distortion before a track plays on Apple Music app on macOS since the rollout of Spatial Audio?
There is a thread on apple discussions where it is also being discussed here.

I believe the chances of it occurring are greater when I select a track on a "page" that currently does not have any music playing from it.

The sound is very loud there is no doubt in my mind that it is damaging to hearing.

I hear it as a robotic-sounding "BOMP!" before the track begins, sometimes the track plays low volume.
It's not consistent but I've heard it a few times now.

I’ve been trying out Apple Music on my mom’s iPhone 12 with lossless and high res lossless. I’ve got my DAC and everything setup properly. Same issue here. Both the weird 15 second stop bug and the random scary noise bug. Thankfully the volume of my preamp is set so it doesn’t cause equipment damage or scare the living daylights out of me, but it has when I listened with AirPods Pro. I know the AirPods Pro don’t play lossless, but I’m not going to delete the downloaded tracks, turn off lossless and re-download them just for AirPods.

Yes, I’ve had this problem on both my intel and M1 macs. It only happens when I enable lossless audio which is a bummer, but I can live without it.

The noise is just the worst. Reminds me of that time I accidentally downloaded malware on my computer in middle school.

I just signed up for Apple Music and I'm experiencing the exact same thing.

No other app or website on any my devices has ever played a sound that sounds like this or is as loud as this ever before. It catches me off guard every time and leaves me really stressed out.

For any musicians/producers out there, it's essentially the sound of a square wave that pitch bends with a ton of distortion. Doesn't matter how low MacOS or Music app volume is set to, it's always terribly loud.

I worry my speakers might blow out next time this happens or it may destroy my hearing.

Is there any way to report this to Apple.

I can't be expected to pay for Apple Music until this is fixed, honestly.
