Does anyone know how to schedule events that recur on a specific day of a week each month instead of the specific date of the month? I want to be able to schedule an event to alert me for the 2nd Tuesday, or 3rd Thursday, or 2nd and 4th Wednesday. Does anyone know how to accomplish this? Is there a free, or inexpensive, 3rd party app that will give me what I need?

Need Solution for iPhone and PC-Windows Vista
I don't have a Mac. I have PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. I'd like to find a solution that is native on the iPhone, so I don't have to depend on a different device for entering and updating my schedule. I carry my phone with me, but not my laptop. I know I can make the entries in Google Calendar, but that involves manually syncing the calendars, unless I'm missing something. I'm really surprised that this basic logic is not available in the supplied iPhone calendar application. It provides for recurring weekly events, but not for monthly (or annual), except by date. Another feature I would like to see is more control over the frequency and timing of alerts, but I can live with it. I like the other features of the calendar, especially being able to see the schedule, by passing a finger over the date without actually having to open the date.

I ran into this the other day. I have done a search in the forums, it appears others have commented on the limited calendar functions on the built in calendar. You may want to explore third party apps like Agendus.

Yah, on a Mac your Calendar entries are managed through the native Mac App iCal and you can do that through iCal. I was having a similar problem with scheduling a recurring event on certain days every week and I couldn't do it on the iPhone directly, I had to do it on iCal and sync from there.

He doesn't want to do it through a Mac; he wants to be able to do it on the iPhone. Besides, he can use Outlook on his PC.

Anyway, I understand that but it's kind of like when I had a BlackBerry ( before they had management software for the Mac ) and I had to struggle with that. It's much easier to have devices made by the same company to ensure compatibility. That's actually why I got an iPhone in the first place.

I think one problem is that people are expecting too much to be done by the OS. Apple either wanted to come up with something that worked and gradually add more features later or they're just playing with us (or leaving stuff out to get us to upgrade). I don't think we can have every single capability that we might have with a desktop.
Yes it is easier when you have a devices made by the same company, however in the real world of business that is not the case. That being said, it is possible with things like Blackberry and Windows.
The question here is not compatible devices, but does the iphone have the capability to create recurring weekly events. A MAC or a PC is not always available to a business man who is traveling and needs to make these entries.
To the OP, what you are looking for is two separate functions. The first item, “schedule events that recur on a specific day of a week each month “ is a Weekly function. The second scenario, “or 2nd and 4th Wednesday” is known as a custom recurring meeting.
For the first requirement, check out Agendus, it may have all you need. For the second request, it may be a little more difficult. For example, Lotus Notes can do custom recurring meetings, however I don’t think there is a way to do this natively in Outlook without a third party plug-in or custom VBS script. So you may find it difficult to find a third party Iphone app that can do this. I would go to the Agendus website and check out what they say.
