Long story short I ended up with a free $150 Amazon credit. I decided to grab a streaming device for my second TV. Since it didn't cost me anything, I had nothing to lose.
I was really hoping to take advantage of the screen sharing, but all 3 of my macs are 2010 so I'm SOL. I intend to buy air parrot as soon as I get the ATV in the mail.
My question is what is the most effective way to watch stored content on the ATV? Is there any program that will encode on the fly for my avi/mkv files? For example if I stream air video to my ipad, can I then beam it airplay to the TV? There has to be an alternative to reencoding everything.
Also what kind of bandwidth will I need to stream 1080p? Will my 15 meg connection be able to pump that much?
What are some tips and tricks for a ATV newb to get the most out of it?
