I was at a friend's house today and we decided to play Scrabble with our iPads. We had a difficult time at first because although we both were on her wireless network she kept getting a message that she was not connected. We each were using a 64 GB WiFi iPad. Finally, after some moments of frustration, she suggested that I try my 3G iPad, which I had with me, too. Voilà! Suddenly everything worked and we were able to play a fun game. We are both wondering why the implementation of one 3G iPad and one WiFi iPad worked but two WiFi iPads didn't...... Anyone have any clues?

Sounds like the host of the iPad that it worked with had their Bluetooth setting enabled and the other one that didn't work had it disabled. I dunno, thats just a guess.

I suppose it wouldn't be smart to ask why you were traveling with both a wi-fi iPad and a 3G iPad lol ;)

It may just be coincidence - my wife and I were having similar problems with a 3G + a Wifi playing together, the Wifi one in particular seemed to be having issues. There was an option in Scrabble to do a full reset, that seemed to help. It took several tries, but once connected, it then played great with no issues.

Think they still have a few bugs in the game's networking code to work out :)

I like to play Scrabble and keep reading the reviews on the App Store to see if the makers have finally fixed the bugs. Judging by the incessant screaming, there are too many issues to buy it.

So I still play on that big old board. With such a popular game you'd think they would fix all the issues that ppl keep typing about!

Well the vocal minority are usually the loudest unfortunately. Just know I nor my sister who also bought it have not experienced a single issue with scrabble on my iPad.

I picked this up after my 3G was delivered. My wife, myself and a friend of mine all downloaded the tile rack app for our iPhones and started playing a game. It's nice when it works, but there is a problem when any of the phones lock. You have to keep a good eye on them to make sure they don't or you can have problems getting them to connect again. It also looks like if two of the phones drop at the same time, you are pretty much toast.

When it works it's great, when it doesn't, you just wasted 45 minutes on an unrecoverable game. :(

LOL! Perfectly reasononable question..... Normally I don't plan to take both i
Pads with me everywhere! In this case I was visiting a friend who had also just bought an iPad but didn't have many accessories yet I had both iPads so that it was quicker and easier to show off the different cases and accessories, and that made it easier for her to decide what she would want when we went to the busy Apple store that afternoon. I bought the 3G to be my carrying-out-of the house iPad, and it is the one which goes with me everywhere now. When we went to the Apple store only the 3G went in my Muzetto bag while I left the other iPad at my friend's house.

Thanks, all, for the responses. Mlkeller, that is a good idea to try a complete reset if there are problems again. I did ask my friend if she has had of the WiFi connection problems some have discussed and she says she has had no issues with hers at all. I haven't had any issues with my WiFi iPad, either, and I have used it in several places outside of my own home and network too. It is obvious that one or the other of our WiFi iPads was being persnickety!

Once we were able to actually play the game we had a lot of fun!
