Anyone using an external drive for scratch?
I have had to move from an old G5 tower to a last year iMac 24 in 3.06 to run photoshop and painter. My dear old G5 workhorse passed away and
I am waiting like everyone else for Apple to upgrade the Mac Pro.This iMac
has 4 gig of ram, a 1 terabyte hard drive and a 512 meg video card.
I have the old 30 in cinema plugged in thanks to an answer from this group
and the whole set up seems much faster...however towards the end of a long day of large files things become VERY flaky. I do have a firewire 800 drive stuck on this thing but the scratch assigned to it seemed not to work very well.I guess my real question is ...is anyone here doing about the same thing and how smooth is it working for you?
