Scratched casing

Hi all,

I in all of my infinite stupidity set my ibook on my iMac's leg/base, and I forgot that the feet are missing on the ibook. I went to slide the ibook off of my imac's base and ended up scratching the base/leg.

The scratch isn't really noticeable, except when I have my desk lamp on, but me with my OCD personality am really bugged by it. Does anyone have any idea as to how I can fix this? by the way, I'm taking it in to the Apple Store on Saturday or Sunday, because the screen is cloudy in the upper left corner, should I try to pass it off as one of the employees fault? Yeah I know, that's really immoral. But I may end Up just getting a replacement, because I have a really cloudy screen.

I'm with you one this one. Take it in for the cloudy screen, and say NOTHING about the scratch. If they replace, fine. If not, be a man for God sake and fess up!!!! lol...just kidding...But really, be a man.

Yeah I most likely wouldn't go and do that. I would feel really bad about that. But I t really does have an issue with a cloudy corner in the screen, that has been getting worse.

But does anyone know what if there is anything that I can do to fix the scratch if they don't replace the whole computer for the screen issue?

Not tried the GS27. I was kidding. It was reviewed here and found to be lacking.

Brasso looks to be good for bringing back faded and oxidized paint, but not much good on scratches.

Ok, thanks! If the iMac doesn't get replaced (please replace!!! I have had so many frickin problems with it) I might just try to find some paint that matches it. O r learn to ignore it, although it will be pretty hard with my OCD personality!

By the way, does anyone know, what iMac they will replace mine with (if they do replace it)? I have the first generation aluminum iMacs, and I have 20" 2.4 GHz, but they don't make a 2.4GHz imac with the HD Radeon 2600 Pro anymore?

Every single time I thought I would touch up some scratches or match paint color and repaint an assembly I was pretty unhappy with the results. Afterward I wished I had left the original scratch or scuff.

Ok, thanks for that advice. I figured out that the scratch is in the perfect place for me to set my external HDD on top of it.
