Has anyone gotten any scratches on their MBPs yet? My wife's C2D MBP has a small scratch on the external side of the lid (near the apple logo) that I just noticed. I'm thinking of getting a replacement lid but I'm not sure where to purchase one, any ideas? Normally if it were a Dell I could call dell spare parts and acquire one, does it work the same way for Apple?

no scratches on mine. if it came like that, you can probably convince apple to send you a new one (depending on how bad it is and how good you are at persuasion). if it was your fault, i would check the marketplace here on MR or eBay for spare parts. i wouldn't know where else to look.

Unfortunately I've got scratches too on my new MBP. Some very small ones above the magsafe port, due to the danged thing getting sucked in by the magnet. Also got one on the battery.

I'm not even sure how scratches got on my wife's laptop since it's been sitting stationary on a table the entire time--I'm beginning to think it just shipped that way and we never noticed it. Is there an online form I can fill out to contact Apple care or do I have to take it into an Apple Store and get it serviced? I've never had to deal with Apple care before.

You can call the Apple number on your support documentation. They will ask you what's wrong with it, and send you a box to ship it out to a repair center if they agree that your complaint is a problem :)

The scratches on mine are caused by me, unfortunately..I have to lug my MBP around a lot, so it's not really surprising.

Ugh, I suppose they don't send out parts like the lid cover for DIY repairs? I'd rather not send it out to them and have them mess with it if I can avoid it. Is there any places online that sell spare parts?

I'm not aware of any. And yes, if you send it in it will probably come back with more scratches/blemishes. :(

I know ifixit.com has the bottom case. No clue whether they sell the part you want. Personally, I wouldnt sweat the small scratch. Replacing the case, either yourself or by a technician, would cost a couple hundred buckeroos. So you might as well wait till there's more damage to replace the laptop case.

Thanks, I wrote ifixit.com an e-mail seeing if they sell the lid. If it's around $50 then I'll buy it otherwise I'll just wait until I can find it on ebay.
