Screen Brightness

I am sitting here a little confused on why my screen keeps getting brighter and brighter at random times and at other times it goes to the setting that i wanted it to. It is the last rev 15'' powerbook. All ideas will be helpful.

Ambient light sensor? Is there anything covering the speaker (the sensors are under them). Is there a flickering or moving light source? Are you simply not using the keyboard/trackpad for a while then using it again (as this automatically dims the screen after a while)?

no im not covering the ambient light censors and im using the computer and trackpad while it does this.

Maybe as you are moving you are casting shadows. You can always turn the sensor off.

its not only that the screen brightness wount incrase normally anymore

Two things to try:

1. log out and back in

2. under Prefs > Displays, uncheck "Automatically adjust..."

its so weird i upgraded to 10.4.5 and now everything is fine. how weird is that.
