I cannot understand how can you except anything else but brand new unopened factory packaged device. Your phone had a defect. You should get real new one for replacement. Anything else is Apple screwing you. Doesn’t matter if it’s iUP or not. This is principle. You paid for new phone. You should get new phone. This is my opinion.
Warranty replacements usually don’t get brand new phones…even if you believe it’s the principal of it…

Yep. Some other member got a replacement PM that had glue on the volume buttons. It’s a myth to say “ they don’t have refurbs this early…”. I agree.

You can think whatever you want but Apple wont give you new retail piece. I tried it.

I think the issue is it’s no longer a brand-new phone; it’s past the return period. If it’s defective at purchase, you can return it. A defect can arise anytime in the warranty period and they’ll replace the phone, possibly with a refurb, but not necessarily a brand-new one.

According to our law if you find a defect until 6 months from purchase you should be able to return it. But Apple will claim that you got new unit and not refurb.
Problem with refurb is that is mostly 1/3 cheaper device which is built from repair units. External looks new but internal are not. For example I got old display which has defective colours.

I'd never lay my phone out on a table next to me because I'd be scared of someone wooshing by and stealing it. So I just don't see the case where this is helpful. Maybe I just don't get it because I already have a watch. I dunno.
When working from home it's on my desk. No one is going to take my phone. When I'm at work it's on my desk and I take it with me when I leave my desk. I like having the weather, time, notifications, etc available at a glance.

AOD doesn’t effect my battery life on my 14 Pro Max.AOD has been on since 9/16/22. I can go beyond 36 hours without needing to charge.

I haven’t been on charger since driving home from work last night around 11:30pm. I was up till 5:00am using the phone. It’s 11:46am and battery is at 45%.

AOD definitely affects battery life.

Here’s the thing.

Take it in to a Apple Store and show them what you showed us. If anyone else sees something on their phone do the same thing.
It could be like someone said a faulty display.
I’ve had AOD on since launch day and not seeing anything. If I do I’ll take it in. I can’t worry about a problem I don’t have.

So many people on this forum are tripping about AOD. “ It’s not done the way Samsung does it” “ It’s draining my battery”. Why does Apple have to be so different”.

This is what I don’t understand. If you want something that’s not different then get the device that’s not different.

From what I’ve read there is some type of pixel shift with the iPhone AOD. What or how they do it I have no idea. I’m not a iPhone engineer and no one here is.

Just because there’s no floating clock doesn’t mean they don’t have a way of doing pixel shift that’s not obvious or whatever they do to potentially avoid screen burn in.

Does anyone really know how they do what they do.

I took a close up timelapse of my AOD. There was no pixel shifting of the widgets, but the clock moved every minute because different numbers have different widths and it recentered each time it changed. The earth on the astronomy wallpaper I was using also rotated a few pixels every 5 minutes.

using focus mode works very well for always on display. completely black screen which should reduce your battery life. I have the screen dimmed due to it being a work focus.

I'm sure it will work fine in other situations. I can only assume apple could enable it to work like this normally with an update

Replacement has arrived. Will test out the display tonight.

To be honest I tried AOD on my 14 Pro and didn’t see any noticeable battery changes, still got me through a full day with my 10 hour usage and x amount of hours standby time, though I have disabled it since as I didn’t really use the feature.

If it’s taking such a toll on battery then maybe a full reset is in order? not sure but I’m sure Apple would have ran battery tests on it so it uses very little to none.

How did you manage to get a replacement so quick ?hope your new one is good.
Express replacement under Apple care plus.

The replacement phones are different stock to retail and refurbished phones so I'm guessing those are just phones Apple made to put to one side incase the retail units have issues and need to be replaced.

New one seems fine so far will check later under low light if I have the same issues as before but doubt it.

Will update this thread once I check.

How you get burn in when AOD goes off automatically? No Tech YouTubers mentioned AOD going off automatically. Why?
It only goes off automatically if you set sleep mode up or put on battery saver.

The other way it goes off is when you have an apple watch on and move away from the phone.
